“Studying the Research Footprint of the Greek Regions with Bibliometrics – Scientometrics Methods: Problems and Methodological Approaches” Webinar
Webinar entitled “Studying the Research Footprint of the Greek Regions using Bibliometrics – Scientometrics Methods: Problems and Methodological Approaches” was organized on Thursday 6 April by the research team of the action “Electronic research infrastructure for the collection and processing of data regarding the research, development and innovation footprint of the Greek regions: Patenting & R&TD indicators tools [e- Aegean R&D Excellence]”.
The webinar was attended by academics, researchers from the University of Piraeus, the Institute of Speech Processing and the National Documentation Center. The purpose of the discussion was to present the activities in the field of bibliometrics-scientometrics, data sources, methodology and the problems and challenges encountered. In addition, reference was made to approaches of spatial analysis and geographic identification of bibliographic data, in terms of how to identify publications originating from institutions of the Aegean regions, beyond the University of the Aegean, and the creation of a methodological framework for the extraction and processing of large-volume of bibliometric data.
In the context of the meeting, the possibility of extending the methodology to other geographical regions and use other sources and databases was also discussed, while there was the opportunity to exchange views and good practices, but also to discuss the possibility of new research collaborations and the possibility of joint submission of research proposals for the systematic monitoring of the research activity of Greek Regions and research institutions.
