The action

The Action contributes to the business activities in the North and South Aegean in the thematic area defined as “Blue Growth” to meet the requirements created by the continuous, but more “regional” than “global” in recent years, increase in the movement of information, knowledge, capital, and the strengthening of migratory-tourist and trade flows, as well as the reactions to them. The development of sustainable business activities on islands is not facilitated either by their forced, relative, geographical isolation, or by the absence of conditions for economies of scale due to the lack of sufficient resources (starting with geographical space).

The “Blue Growth” strategy prescribes precisely the framework for the development of small-scale business activities that can be efficient and capable of creating “sophisticated products” – which are produced with significantly less environmental impact than the production methods of the 3rd Industrial Revolution. The Smart Blue Growth Center will contribute to the selection of sectors and activities of the island economy that can be included in a “Blue Growth” strategy, and will enhance the Technological and Investment Readiness Levels (TRLs & IRLs) of these sectors and activities (Smart Blue Growth) through:

  1. a) the implementation of a strategy of “digital transformation” of businesses and their environment, with reference to the “mature technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution (Digital Identities for people and goods, Distributed Ledger Technologies – aka blockchain)
  2. b) the dynamic adaptation of the traditional model of entrepreneurship (production or marketing) by promoting methods of understanding reality and decision making using modern financial instruments and digital applications & tools.

It includes the following three (3) Activities:

Policy Making for Smart Blue Growth

Smart Blue Growth: the technological basis (Digital Transformation, Digital Economy, Digital Identities for All – Digital Certification of Product Origin, Blockchain Services for integration into modern Supply Chains for Smart Blue Growth)

Strategic and Operational Preparation – Financial Decision Support for Blue Growth SMEs

The action aims to accelerate the development of activities in the North and South Aegean in the thematic area defined as "Blue Growth". This is achieved through the use of digital technologies and capabilities to intelligently redesign existing business models and practices and create new and sustainable ones that meet modern requirements.
