In the framework of the Action a number of recordings were carried out. The data collected was analyzed and informed the frameworks as well as the digital platforms that were developed.
Enterprises of the Aegean Archipelago
A full recording and a sectorial analysis of the Aegean Archipelago enterprises was undertaken (57,144 businesses in total). The recording was carried out in collaboration with the Aegean Chambers of Commerce.
Expatriate Greeks of the N. Aegean islands
A documentation of the expatriate Greeks of the islands of the North Aegean was carried out. The ethno-regional associations of the emigrants by continent were identified, contact information was collected and a database was created.
Graduates of the University of the Aegean
Focusing on the role of entrepreneurship for regional innovation and development, a questionnaire was designed addressed to graduates who are active inside or outside the North Aegean as entrepreneurs. The main objective was to explore the reasons for their activity, the obstacles they face and the policies that could benefit their venture.
Intent to innovate
A documentation was conducted on a sample of 145 businesses in the N. & S. Aegean. Revealing that the potential intention to innovate is greater in the secondary and less in the tertiary sector of services, while the concept of “intentional” search exists only in 10.5% of businesses.
HEInnovate Tool
A survey was carried out, based on the HEInnovate tool, aiming to document the perceptions of the student population regarding the support of entrepreneurship and innovation during their studies. Furthermore, it was attempted to record the general interest of the students in entrepreneurship and in the development of business skills.
Research laboratories
A documentation, analysis and classification of the research laboratories and groups of the University of the Aegean was implemented.
Educational material in the thematic fields of innovation and business discovery was developed, based on RIS3. A digital repository on the above topics was developed, too.
Open availability of data, aiming to become a source of power for the promotion and strengthening of entrepreneurship in the Aegean islands through an open community around the support of innovative business initiatives.
Encouragement of financial innovation and healthy start-up entrepreneurship in the different priority areas of the RIS3 strategies, ensuring an appropriate balance between potential risks and emerging opportunities.
Development of the University of the Aegean Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan, aiming to strengthen the research of the research laboratories and the research potential, strengthen innovation and start-up entrepreneurship at the University of the Aegean and their interconnection with the island societies, the North and South Aegean regions as well as the connection of Science and Research for addressing daily challenges.
Aegean Archipelago Participatory Governance Services Platform
The goal of the Aegean Archipelago Participatory Governance service platform that was developed in the framework of the action, at a local level is the interconnection of Aegean emigrants in Greece and abroad. The platform is a model website that implements innovative actions and services to connect expatriates across the world with the community and the daily reality of each island, while at the regional level it is a digital communication and information tool.
e-Aegean Crowdfunding Services Platform
Understanding the need to find financial resources, the e-Aegean Crowdfunding Services platform was developed. Crowdfunding is the process of funding an initiative by the public to enable initiators to implement it. This funding is realized by small contributions of money from the public, ultimately accumulating a large amount, thanks to the large portion of the population that supports the initiative.
e-Aegean Research & Business Services Platform
Looking for ways to help the North Aegean business community, the e-Aegean Research & Business service platform was developed. Its goal is twofold: Businesses and public sector organizations can mention both obstacles that hinder their development and possible needs. At the same time, researchers, educators and consulting bodies can direct their research based on the above findings
Aegean StartUps to Scale Ups Service Platform
In the context of the development of an academic accelerator of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as ideas for actions with a social impact, with an emphasis on the Aegean region, the Aegean StartUps to Scale Ups service platform was developed. Participants: students, graduates and staff of the University of the Aegean and other Universities, mentors, business angels, companies and organizations of the Aegean, citizens of Greece and the world
Moreover, in the framework of the Action, MoUs were signed with involved parties and informative events were held.
The goal of the action is to create an inter-regional e-service and open data center for innovation and entrepreneurship to support existing and start-up businesses and promote entrepreneurship and innovation. The center becomes the contact point for researchers, businesses and policy makers, as well as individuals from the Aegean islands.

Quantitative Methods Laboratory is a research interdisciplinary laboratory, including the modules of additive manufacturing, optimization and financial accounting. QMLab was established in 2003 and was one of the most innovative laboratories of the School of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean. QMLab is located at Chios island. The research interest is focused on examining the changes of supply and production chain via 3D printing, using analytic methods for optimizing operational procedures, developing frameworks on internal audit and corporate governance, and defining the concept of smart cities and regions.

The Information Systems Laboratory (ISL) of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering is a multi-disciplinary research unit conducting technology policy, research and prototyping, evaluation and life-cycle management over a wide range of application areas within the public and private sectors, at an international scale. ISL pursues a strong and lasting collaboration with academic and research institutions, public sector organizations and innovation-oriented enterprises from Greece, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Members of the laboratory are actively participating in ICT policy, research and standardisation in European Union and internationally (EU/EC, FP6/FP7, CIP/PSP, CEN-ISSS, SEMIC.EU, W3C, IFIP, AIS, IEEE). Acquired knowhow is channeled in the creation of vocational and academic training material, and the implementation of high-quality academic work in the domain of information systems

Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovative Education Laboratory (MEIE Lab) is a Laboratory of the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean which was founded in 2015 and is directed by Assistant Professor Ioannis Kinias.
The last four years, ΜΕΙΕ implements 4 Erasmus + research projects in the fields of Entrepreneurship - Innovation and Family Business and also supports institutional projects.
In addition, MEIE established and implements, since 2017, a business idea competition under the title "Entrepreneurship Day".

The laboratory for Environmental Policy & Strategic Environmental Management was established in 2002. The research undertaken by the Lab’s personnel focuses on applied environmental policy & sociology and on the green management of industries and organizations.
